Target Holiday Hiring 2026: Pay, Weekend Hiring Events and How to Apply
NATIONWIDE — Target is hiring seasonal store workers for the 2026 holidays, and at selected stores in a dozen states it is holding in-store recruiting events on weekends through November 22. The retailer has not published a national headcount this year. What it has shared, market by market, adds up to thousands of jobs in a handful of metros alone, at a starting range of $15 to $24 an hour.
Target's 2026 holiday jobs are seasonal store and fulfillment roles paying $15 to $24 an hour depending on role and location, with weekend hiring events running at selected stores into late November.

π₯ What Target Has Said About Holiday Hiring in 2026
Target has not announced a national seasonal hiring number for 2026, and we did not find one on its corporate site. Instead, the company has been giving numbers to local outlets one market at a time. A Target spokesperson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on October 8 that the company plans to add 2,300 seasonal workers at its metro Atlanta stores. CBS Chicago reported on October 20 that Target is adding more than 4,300 seasonal team members across the Chicago area. And Target vice president Sabrina Thomas told KRLD in Dallas on October 21 that the company is looking for about 3,900 seasonal workers in Dallas-Fort Worth, about 2,100 around Houston and about 1,000 around Austin, with hiring already underway and continuing through December.
Those five markets come to roughly 13,600 jobs between them. That is our sum of Target's local figures, not a company total.
π The Weekend Hiring Events
Target's holiday hiring events page lists in-store recruiting events at selected stores, mostly on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The page invites people to stop by an upcoming event, but it does not post times or say whether interviews happen on the spot. Call or visit your store first. These are the events still ahead as of October 24:
- Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth: Flower Mound runs the longest stretch, every Friday through Sunday from October 30 to November 22. Allen, Allen North, McKinney, McKinney SW, Plano West, Wylie and North Richland Hills have dates between October 25 and November 11.
- Texas, Austin: South Lamar on October 30 and 31, and Austin SW and Bee Cave on October 30, October 31 and November 6.
- North Carolina: ten Triad and Durham stores, including Burlington, Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem, on October 25 and every Saturday and Sunday from November 7 to 22. Raleigh's Six Forks Road store holds one on November 7.
- Virginia: Danville, on the same weekend schedule through November 22.
- Tennessee: Franklin on October 31, November 1, 14 and 15, and Farragut on October 30 and 31.
- South Carolina: Hilton Head, October 30 through November 1 and November 6 through 8.
- Florida: Miami SW 104th, October 31.
- New Jersey: Greenwich Township, Rockaway and Washington Township on October 25, and Stafford Township on October 31 and November 1.
- Also on October 25: seven Maryland stores including Germantown, Largo and Crofton; seven Pennsylvania stores including Stroudsburg and Williamsport; and Appleton East in Wisconsin, which returns on November 1.
Maine and New Hampshire stores held their last listed events today. The page does not print a year beside its dates, but every weekday on it matches the 2026 calendar. Check it again before you plan a trip.
πΌ The Roles
Most seasonal hires work in stores. Target's seasonal careers page lists openings in guest services, early-morning and overnight inbound, fulfillment, and food and beverage, plus the style, beauty, tech and general merchandise areas and in-store Starbucks counters.
In plain terms: checkout and service desk work, unloading trucks and stocking before the doors open, picking and packing online orders for pickup and delivery, and keeping departments shopped and tidy during the busiest weeks of the year. The page says newcomers are as welcome as experienced retail workers. Target also hires seasonal staff at its supply chain sites, which run on warehouse schedules.
π΅ What It Pays
Target's pay and benefits fact sheet, last updated April 13, 2026, puts its starting wage range at $15 to $24 an hour depending on role and location, and says the average frontline wage is above $18.50. The seasonal hiring reports from Atlanta and Texas this month cite the same $15 to $24 range. The seasonal page adds that early-morning and overnight shifts carry added pay.
The benefits that matter for a short job: Target says benefits start on day one, including access to pay before payday, free virtual healthcare and mental health support, and a 10 percent team member discount, with eligibility varying by role and hours. Health insurance is a separate threshold: Target says hourly workers become eligible at 25 hours a week, so ask how your seasonal schedule counts.
β οΈ Read This Before You Apply
These are seasonal jobs. Expect them to run through the holidays and the January returns rush, then end unless you are asked to stay. Target told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that more than half of last year's seasonal workers stayed on after the holidays, which is encouraging but not a promise.
Expect nights, weekends and Black Friday week. Inbound and stocking shifts start very early, and supply chain work means long stretches on your feet and lifting. Apply only through Target's own careers site. Real employers do not charge to apply, and a text offering a "Target job" that asks for a fee or your bank details before an offer is a scam.
